The Story behind Eschocolat (Ecuador Specialty chocolate)
Less than 2% of the world’s cacao can be considered high quality ‘specialty’ cacao. Ecuador produces a staggering 60% of this specialty cacao. Named ‘Arriba’ for the ‘Northern’
coastal provinces it hails from (Guayas, Manabí, Esmeraldas), this cacao nacional is cultivated by small-scale farmers, who receive a premium even higher than Fair trade cacao prices.
Eschocolat bars are processed at Ecuador’s finest chocolate factory, a novelty in the world of northern-dominated chocolate manufacturers. It means extra employment for creative Ecuadorians who select, roast, filter, grind and blend the cacao, who refine, conge and temper the chocolate, and who design and print the labels, pack the bars and work on the website.

Eschocolat contains no harmful transfatty acids, found so often in conventional chocolate nowadays, no artificial flavours or colours, nor any GMOs.
