Escoffee managed also this year to reserve one-third of the profits for the ‘Farmer Support Funds’, purchasing with it eight pulping machines with this in 2006, two laptops in 2007 and twenty-five more pulping machines for this year. Farmers repay these machines are in one to two harvests against 0% interest. The machines allow the farmer to process his or her red cherries into parchment coffee, thus adding value to the coffee and fetch a better price.
